TRISH MAYO

Artist Philip Haas installation of the Four Seasons in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory Courtyard at the NYBG (New York Botanical Garden).  Representing the 4 seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter each sculpture is approximately 15 feet high.  The work is inspired by the fanciful portraits of the 16th century Italian Renaissance painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo. Definitely a must see when visiting the gardens.

Manolo Valdes’ BUTTERFLIES through the seasons

When the Monumental Sculptures were installed in the New York Botanical Gardens (NYBG) grounds I had read that the sculptor Manolo Valdes wanted his work to be seen through the changing seasons.  I took a series of photos starting in Summer, then Fall, during a Winter snowstorm and finally in the Spring.  The exhibition closes on May 26th so if you haven’t seen the sculptures yet you still have a few weeks.
